About MGM Hostel
The Mar Gregorios Memorial Mission (MGM) Hostel is attached to the MGM Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur and is centrally run by the School Managing Committee under the patronage of St. Thomas Mission Society Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Mission Centre at the Diocesan Hq. Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
The aim of the Hostel is to impart the children asound basis for good education and to inspire a high sense of morality and social relationship. Every attempt is under taken to provide a conducive and congenial ambience of care and mutual cooperation, to ensure that the stay of each child is comfortable, memorable and academically fruitful. MGOS CHURCH, Midland & St. Thomas Mission Society (HOME/SRC-6028) along with School LWC is locally looking after the day-to-day affairs promptly.
Rules & Regulations
The Rules & Regulations are care fully drawn up to facilitate smooth and efficient conduct of the affairs of the hostel and for the convenience of both the parents and Hostel authorities. The strict observance of the laid down rules and regulations is expected from all concerned.

Admission
- Admission is given for both boys and girls, who have secured admission in MGM Hr. Sec. School.
Boys: Class V to XII only (5 to 12only)
Girls: Class V to XII only (5 to 12only)
- Application for admission should be made on the form available from the School office along with 2passport size photographs as per notification issued from the School office.
- There is no distinction of caste or community in the case of admission. However, common prayer of Christian faith will be followed in the hostel. Hosteller’s must participate in everyday morning and evening prayer and Sunday Service.
- Parents/Guardians residing outside Dimapur Town are required to identify 2 local guardians at the time of admission of their children so as to keep contact and for other needs.
- Children should be vaccinated against Covid-19, Cholera, Typhoid etc. before admission to the hostel. No child suffering from contagious disease will be kept in the hostel.
- Every year there will be fresh admission subject to availability of seats in the hostel.
- In case of withdrawal of a child, one month’s hostel charges will be claimed in lieu of notice period.
- Hostel fees will be charged for 11 Calendar months. Fee structure will be known from the office. Hostel fees along with School fees have to be paid in advance by Cash/Draft/Online Payment. (No cheques will be entertained).
- The Hostel will serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
- All the fee dues are to be cleared during the school office time by cash or through Online mode before 10th of every month failing which a late fee of Rs. 20/per week will be charged. Failure to clear the dues for 2 consecutive months, the parents will be asked to withdraw their child from the hostel.
- In the case of illness, extra charges for medical attention either in the hostel or in the ‘Hospital’ will be claimed from the parents/guardians.
- The resident will be held responsible for any breakage or damages to the furniture and other hostel property. Repair charges for any damages including electric switches, fans, window panels etc. will have to be paid by the resident concerned.
Visiting Time
- Parents/Guardians are advised to avoid regular visits of their children as it not only affects the studies of your children but also hurts the feelings of other children to a certain extent. Monthly visits may, however, be made if felt necessary on scheduled days, only on 2nd and 4th Saturday’s.
Timing: 9A.M to 4P.M
- Only parents or local guardians will be allowed to visit their ward with prior permission of the warden. The visitors will meet their wards at the visitors’ room. No parents/guardians will be allowed to go to their ward’s room.
Mandatory Directions For parents
- Please read the rules/regulations mentioned in the hostel prospectus carefully.
- Parents are requested to ensure that all the required clothing and School uniform are brought by their children at the time of arrival. Hostel Uniform as mentioned must be used in the hostel premises. It will be available from the A1/Maruti Shop near Bata Chariali.
- Pocket money should not be kept with the children, can be handed over to the warden and can be taken from her/him when necessary. Those who bring the pocket money may keep at their own risk.
- Parents are requested not to entrust ornaments or costly items with the children while staying in the hostel. Hostel authorities will not be responsible for any loss or theft of belongings of hostellers. The parents are advised not to bring junk food or homemade food for their ward. This may hurt the sentiment of other children.
- No child will be allowed to leave the hostel unless the parent/or authorized guardian makes a request personally and records it in the register kept with the Warden. Hostellers will not be allowed to stay overnight in a local guardian’s house without prior permission of the parents.
- Parents are advised not to take their children during the short duration of holidays as it disturbs their studies. Children may be taken home during Summer/Winter vacations only. Picking and dropping of ward must be strictly done by parents/guardians.
- Hostel authorities shall censor all the letters received or posted by the hostellers.
- No tuition will be allowed outside the hostel. If needed it will be given in the hostel with prior consultation to the vice-president and warden. Fees will be charged, which has to be paid every month to the warden.
- Unfortunately, if any hosteller skips away from the hostel at his/her own accord, the hostel authority will not take risk for such mishap except reporting to the nearest Police Station and to the local Parents/guardians concerned, which ever possible immediately.
- In matters of discipline the decision of the Hostel authority will be final. No indiscipline will be tolerated. Only 2 warnings will be given to any misbehavior. If repeated he/she will be sent back home
- The management is not responsible for any loss due to natural calamity.
- Parents/Guardians’ entire cooperation is expected by the Hostel authority to bring up their children to be good and useful citizens of our country.
- All personal belongings should be marked with the initials of the student for proper identification.
Instructions to the students
- Be punctual and obedient at your work both at the hostel and School. Hostel Time Table should be followed strictly.
- No students should leave the hostel without prior permission of the hostel warden. They are not allowed to go to meet friends. In case of necessity a group of intending hostellers may do so accompanying the hostel Warden/Staff.
- Students must speak only in English in school and in hostel.
- Students are not allowed to bring junk food or homemade food.
- Students must observe all mess rules in the dining hall. Meals will not be served before or after the fixed hours. Each hosteller must observe meal timings and must behave properly with the Mess Staff.
- Meals and other eatables provided, should not be taken to the rooms.
- Any kind of shouting, creating rumors or any other act likely to create disturbance is strictly prohibited within the hostel premises.
- Text books etc. should not be carried to home during holidays. If anyone is interested in taking books during holidays, he/she should report to the warden and maintain a list of such books in order to ensure that they are brought back in good condition.
- Students must keep their clothes, clocked boxes & their surroundings neat & tidy. They have to maintain proper discipline & be obedient to the Hostel authorities. Rooms should be kept clean. Dustbin should be used to throw dirty things or papers.
- Students will be fined or even expelled if he/she smokes, chews pan/talab or takes any forbidden item. Spitting on the walls is strictly prohibited.
- Rowdy, disorderly and aggressive conduct is a punishable offence. He/she may even be expelled from the hostel/school.
- Common prayer both in the morning and evening is compulsory to all.
- The warden will conduct a surprise inspection at any time.
- Final decision concerning all matters regarding the hostel will be made by the vice-president in consultation with the School/Hostel managing committee members.
- Consumption of tobacco products in any form is strictly banned.
